I’m not upset over the banning of **drmark2000**. The man was in near constant violation of the ‘don’t be a jerk’ rule. When you pit Mister Rogers for not discussing masturbation, you’re either a troll or in serious need of mental help.
I am upset over **Tubadiva** ’s accusing **Catsix** of lying. I am upset over **Tubadiva** ’s claim to have delivered on all her past promises. The admins used to routinely show by their words and actions that I could trust and respect them. I am extremely upset that this is no longer the case.

Huh? You can’t possibly think that banning **drmark2000** was an arbitrary exercise of mod power. There’s never been a more ban-worthy poster on these boards. I’m just surprised it took them so long.

What really nettled me was, “What’s a girl to do?” Any form of, “you leave me no choice,” bugs me, because it’s always a lie.
Secondarily, banning somebody for posting something dumb about Mr. Rogers and masturbation seems also dumb. The whole thing escalated in a typically stupid way, (“If you step over _this_ line, I’m going to have to arrest you” is almost begging somebody to step over that line. Then the cop has to make an arrest because s/he made an artificial, arbitrary ultimatum, or the cop’s afraid they’ll look foolish.)
I agree with **Aeschines** - not about the board being gone soon - of course he’s wrong about that - but that banning all these people hurts the board in the long run. I don’t want a world where we get rid of the _National Enquirer_ and the _Weekly World News_ because they’re stupid and wrong - so we can only have the _New York Times_ on our newsstand. Loonies are worth the hassle, and reduce the likelihood that we someday throw out the baby with the bathwater. If you can’t withstand an argument against marriage, or that Mr. Rogers should have discussed jerking off, you’re in trouble anyhow.

Why do people question bannings without reading the large list of warnings generated and threads closed. DrMark was consistently a jerk. He wasn’t new age, he was just a confrontational douche.

I think we reach a point when whether or not a poster is trolling is too obvious to debate. Once that point is reached, then we just have to agree to disagree that

No, please! I definitely do _not_ want my SDMB experience slowed down by the loading of thousands of semantically meaningless animated avatars. And I much prefer having links to the JPEG files instead of having them embedded in posts. There are a lot of threads here I just plain wouldn’t open if I knew they might contain pictures :eek:

I definitely liked TapCIS. It was the best UI CompuServe ever had. But if you look at the way SDMB works now, it has a lot of TapCIS’ features in it already, plus more. Being able to hit “preview” and find out if you’re duplicating someone else’s post is great. This modest little editor really works pretty well.

This isn’t a trainwreck. It’s more like you’re stepping into an elevator in front of a large crowd, being forced by the crowd into the back of the lift, thus being unable to get to any buttons, so you ask for someone to press floor 17 please, and no one does, so you ask again, a little louder, and still no one obliges you, so you keep yelling out “FLOOR 17!” while struggling to get to the front yourself, but then finding little dog shaped octopi impeeding your progress and attempting to throttle you. THAT’S what it’s like.
