I heard that “mothership” story too. It made about as much sense to me as the story about bamboo ballots in the 2020 election. ---

That’s because an Iranian mothership off the coast would be silly. A mothership (with, say, a diameter of one kilometer) flying over New Jersey, on the other hand makes perfect sense. ---

Technically, US Strategic Command now, but same diff. When I was living on the base, I could walk out the front door and look down the hill to visualize all the crosshairs marking intended ground zero for the multiple megatons we were expecting. In a world where the living envy the dead, we would have been amongst the most envied. ---

A lot of “old-timers” still called it SAC. Like my dad, a veteran of the thing. Whereas my association with the command was after they became USSTRATCOM. (Although that was nearly 30 years ago.) ---

Now the folks in my small town south of San Jose are claiming they’re seeing drones over rural commuter routes. I see their excited discussions on nextdoor, and the occasional posting of a light in the night sky, which look to me just like airplanes lining up to land at a nearby municipal airport. They’re advising each other to shoot 'em down. ---
