Someone sent me this article about a month ago via Facebook; it’s Texas Tech-specific, but it has a lot of discussion about what makes for a good looking uniform, and what doesn’t. Given some of the combos I have seen Oregon in, I thought this particular set was somewhat toned down and subdued, though it seemed to blind FSU for about 60 minutes. ---

Oregon wears those colors to distract the other team from the beat-down they are about to receive. That was fun to watch! Candy-assed Florida State couldn’t even shake their hands after the game. ---

I have to agree with the ‘not so bad’ side. My first thought upon seeing Oregon take the field was “they look downright conservative today”. That being said, I sincerely hope this trend toward neon sports uniforms that has permeated both football and basketball dies away soon. Creative is one thing. Eye-blindingly bright is another altogether. ---

Duck fan here. I like the uniforms; if you live in the often dismal cloudy rainy Northwest, a bit of color is uplifting. As far as wings go, the Ducks do fly! Yea Ducks. ---

At first, I thought Oregon’s frequent uniforms were a silly gimmick. Like spending $250,000 to put a QB sign in Times Square. Traditional schools, like my Nebraska Cornhuskers (uniforms essentially unchanged since the 1960s), don’t need to rely on these gimmicks. And I realized something else. My Huskers have not won a conference title since 2000. The Ducks are likely to win the upcoming national championship. The kids love playing in these alt uniforms, it helps recruiting, and I should stop being a stick in the mud. To top it off, I saw these awesome [awesome Darth Vader Oregon uniforms](http://www.lostlettermen.com/article/nike-unveils-oregons-rose-bowl-unis) and thought, you know, these can be quite awesome! Now Nebraska does one alt-uniform game a year, and [they weren’t too bad](http://www.cornnation.com/2014/8/1/5959035/nebraska-huskers-football-alternate-uniforms-illinois-game). I guess if I had one complaint, it’s that my brain has trouble seeing that red-helmeted team as “Nebraska” when watching them. ---

Maybe Oregon will be wearing their road uniforms for the Championship. I’ve long thought the white (road) jersey vs team colour (home) jersey was due to how they’d appear on B&W television. So, I’m wondering, what do the lime green insults look like in B&W? And what really amuses me is no one ever mentions the marijuana leaf stickers on the helmets of the Buckeyes. We sure laughed at them in the 70’s in Columbus. Of course, when you tend to smoke those left-handed cigarettes as we used to back then, lots of things strike you as humorous. ---

[USC vs UCLA](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UCLA%E2%80%93USC_rivalry#Sharing_the_Los_Angeles_Coliseum) both wear their home uniforms. And the article does indeed state the rules for for B&W photos and TV. Good call! I think it would be cool if more teams did this, as I’ve always liked the colored home uniforms over white jerseys. Of course, teams like Alabama vs Oklahoma and Nebraska vs Wisconsin may need to keep them seperate. ---

Honestly, I think once you decide to play under the moniker of ‘The Ducks,’ little can faze you in the way of ridicule. They have fun with the silly uniforms and it’s one more thing that sets them apart. They’ve never had trouble laughing at themselves – I admire them for it. You know up front when you sign on to play as a Duck, you’re going to become one of Phil Knight’s personal Ken dolls. As a female, I quite enjoy all the attention to clothing detail and accessorizing, because… fashion. 🙂 But I had to chuckle last night when one of the men at our party got a close-up view of the Ducks’ helmets and exclaimed, “Oooh!! A little duck on the front, how cute!!” ---

They played just about a perfect game, and were really quite fun to watch. Now that Ohio State has upset (!) Alabama, I expect the Ducks to win the whole shootin’ match. ---
