We’ve had a lot of threads in here about incidents on airplanes. Without being smarmy or quoting Samuel L. Jackson, it’s accurate to say that dealing with a large group of people crammed into an extremely confined space with zero chance of escape for a defined period of time is, well, a bitch. I do not envy flight crews. Do they keep serving the guy, or cut him off- which may anger him- and risk having a drunk and enraged person trapped a few feet from other passengers and crew? Tough calls all around, I say. It’d have been uglier yet if Dad did what I would have done, what most parents would have done. Which is engage in physical violence. I do believe that Drunk Guy had zero idea of the age or gender of the urinal he happened to be making use of. He was drunk, it was Time To Go. Doesn’t excuse it, but to me ( and I have a daughter as well as a son ) it removes entirely the layer of this that addresses man exposing self to 11 year old child of either gender. Again, not condoning it but putting it in the proper context. He very likely didn’t hold his piss for hours, then get up and very coldly and carefully walk the aisles until he found his underage female victim. Bad deal all around. The chest pains part only adds yet another bizarre bit, but I fly a fuckload and have been on a few flights where someone needed medical attention. Never been rerouted because of a medical emergency. ---
