My first Korean pun:

(for this to be a completely hilarious as it actually is, you have to know that in Korean, “water” = “mool”, and the phrase “I don’t know” = “mo-lie-o”; also that soju looks like water, too)

So we were all out drinking in Seoul and late in the evening, when we were all pretty well plastered, my wife (then girlfriend) points to a glass of unidentified liquid and asked if it was water or soju.

I looked at her and with a straight face said, “Mool-lie-o!”

Thank you! I’ll be here all week!

( **HazelNutCoffee** or **Monty** would understand… perhaps they’ll be here later to tell us how hard they laughed!)

I learned the first 3 lines as “Un petit d’un petit s’étonne aux Halles”…

Yes, that would probably spur some seamen.

Similar jokes that are based on words sounding like some other language:

Spanish -\> Japanese:
How do you say “go for a ride” in Japanese?
_Sakasumoto_.

(_Saka su moto_ means “takes out his bike” in Spanish and sounds Japanese.)
[/QUOTE]

Or the similar French -\> Japanese joke…

What Japanese motorcycle manufacturer went under because their bikes were too easy to steal?
_Yamamoto_

(sounds like “il a ma moto”, which roughly translates to “he took my bike”)
