Ducks in the yard

Wow! I don’t check in for a few days and I come back to 30-something replies!

I live in a neighborhood in the middle of Montgomery and my yard is fenced. I don’t have to deal with foxes or other predators. The ducks have come back every morning, and yesterday when I got home from work they were there too. We have 5-6 squirrels, a pair of cardinals, about 7-8 black birds, and a handful of what I think are finches who have become “regulars” in our yard. My daughter has even hand-fed the squirrels almonds before!

I’m going to go this weekend and find real duck food. In the meantime, we have been feeding them popcorn, bird/squirrel food, and on one occassion, pound cake (that wasn’t on purpose…they came right up to the patio and stole it off my daughter’s plate while she was playing on the swing set!)

Duck poop? Maybe it’ll help my (non-existent) grass grow!

My dog has learned to stay on one side of the yard while they are here. She likes watching them. Kinda funny.

If you feed them, they will come. And stay. Forever.
