On Christmas Day, my sister presented him with a gift. He opened it and found a roll of red-colored duct tape & a $5 bill. She said she had looked all over, but was only able to find red tape, no green duct tape. So she included the $5 so he could buy it for himself. All the rest of us, who also watched the program at least occasionally, fell over with laughter. But my sister, who had never seen the show, couldn’t understand what we all found so funny. ---

When teaching white water kayaking in a university outdoor-ed program, we used a terrific illustrated manual by the late, great, and very much lamented William “not Bill” Nealy. Duct tape is used in ww paddling for everything from first aid to boat and gear repair, so Nealy wrote another illustrated manual on the uses of duct tape, which included using duct tape as birth control, or at least I think that was that manual (it might of been another of his manuals), but in any event, he popularized the use of duct tape for birth control in the ww world ;). I makes sense when you think about it. Most (but not all) folks would not have intercourse if their privates were taped up with duct tape, and for those who would, the duct tape makes a durable barrier to insemination. Win-win. 😃 ---
