# Duct-Tape

I’m sorry, I have been waiting for a long time yet I still havn’t seen a good thread on Duct-Tape. Duct tape is all you need, you can make anything out of it, it’s better than any adhesive, you can remove it if you REALLLLYYY needed to (unlike super glue)… I’m sure PALVE will have a post replying to this…

Sorry to hijack this so soon…but super glue should come right off with just a little nail polish remover.
And yes, duct tape is awesome. A girl at my school made a duct tape skirt two years ago. It was pretty neat, and she made a matching bag, wallet, and hat. She even made duct tape sandles and they held up quite well for most of the day.

Use duct tape to stop stuff that moves.
Use WD-40 to start stuff that don’t move.
You got duct tape and WD-40, you don’t need nuttin’ else.

I **HATE** duct tape.
People put it on all sorts of things on boats, like frayed lines and rusty buckets.
It turns to sheds in a month of sun and sea air. but it takes forever to remove completely, so a proper fix can be applied.

Shortly after Christmas last year, the college age son of a friend of mine was killed in a car accident. Being a college student, he couldn’t afford Christmas gifts for his friends, so he had made them all something out of duct tape.
Every one of the pallbearers and several of the young people in attendance at his funeral were wearing something he had made them. Skirts, neckties, jewelry, pocket protectors and several other items.
I haven’t looked at duct tape the same way since.

The greatest invention ever made, duct tape. When I bought my mom’s house after she passed away, half of it was held together with duct tape. I never go anywhere without a roll.

will remove some duct tape. Some uses a different adhesive and must be removed with WD-40, or gasoline and a match.
I like Gaffer’s tape better. Get it at photograpy supply houses. It’s more useful, available in festive colors, and stays crunchy, even in milk. Bloody expensive though.

Best of all, WD-40 will take off that residue from old duct tape!

In the industry, we call it “gaffer tape” as well. And yeah it’s great. I bought some last night - just in case, I had no plans to use it - and ended up using it for two totally separate things (fixing my cistern and hanging paintings).

Pretty cool, but most of that stuff looks like they just put duct tape over real clothes. That’s cheating.
