I was so ecstatic to see Duke lose to Stanford. I hate Duke more than any other basketball team in the universe. I was a sophomore at the University of Kentucky when that infernal Christian Laettner drove a stake into the heart of Wildcat fans everywhere. ---

I guess I’ll have to join the pro-Duke brigade, if only because Cameron is the absolute coolest gym I have ever played in (not that they were exactly throwing hugs and kisses our way.) ---

I truly loathe Duke. I make an exception this year for Dunleavey because he seems like a decent enough guy. The rest of them, and their idiot fans (ooooh, there are less than 10 but more than 5 minutes left in the first half, and we’re up more than 10 points, so we do the bouncing thing; ooooh, now we’re up more than 15 points, so we do the eggbeater thing–BARF!) I was so happy when UCONN beat them for the championship… ---

Bill Gates – the Microsoft guy, I assume you’ve heard of him – recently married. Guess from which university his wife got both an undergraduate and graduate degree, and on which university’s board of trustees this woman now serves. And guess to which university the Gates’ have started giving generous contributions. By the way, Duke’s campus is one of the most beautiful in the country. (UNC-CH’s is nice too). ---

I’m getting worried about the Dallas Mavericks. They’re getting pretty good. They might even contend for a title in the near future. That can’t happen, because the most heinously evil Christian Laettner plays for the Mavs, and he doesn’t deserve an NBA title. Hope he gets traded to the Grizzlies. ---
