I am single because I realized that I value peace and emotional stability more than companionship, and I have yet to meet someone who could change that from an either/or proposition. For me, that’s a good reason but I am sure that it would qualify as dumb to some. Also, sleeping with someone else isn’t very appealing anymore. (And yes, I do mean the sleeping part 🙂 .) ---

I don’t think it is dumb. I think it makes perfect sense. But other people seem to think it is copping out or being negative (i.e. that when you are with the right person, there are no roller-coaster-days or if there are, it is worth it.) I always assume they just want me to have to share their hell. I love my life and have no intention of ever marrying, although I sometimes date. I don’t think humans are life-long maters either (also considered a dumb reason), but that has more to do with not marrying rather than staying single (as in no SO, even a temp.) ---
