I am fed up with CNN’s idiotic “news” coverage and have deleted the bookmark and homepage. But…I do want some kind of US national/world news source that is thorough and up-to-the minute. Would prefer one that is not obsessed with politics. Any suggestions? ---

I use google as my homepage. If I want news, I just click the news button and I get plenty of up-to-date news to choose from. Even local news as I have set that up. ---

No suggestions, just heartfelt agreement with the assertion that the once-proud CNN news site has become utter drivel. Nearly every day, I mentally compose a Pit thread about the idiocy that CNN on line has become. They are full of misleading, poorly composed headlines that lack key information; ridiculous non-news stories; distracting and stupid videos; appalling t-shirt sales, careless typos, and more. Morons. ---

When they went to having close to 50% of their front page links be to videos, and 100% of their US news stories redirect you to a local news station, it was time to declare CNN useless. A current listed headline, under the “West” part of US news “[728 turtles removed from home](http://www.komonews.com/news/28277044.html)”. 5 news stories for the western part of the US, and this one is worth listing? I use iGoogle as homepage, with two or three news gadges of my choice. With an elegant black-grey-white theme it’s friendly on the eye and gives me the news headlines/links a feel I need, together with the Google search field and other handy stuff. ---

I keep [www.commondreams.org](http://www.commondreams.org) as my home page. The news is mostly political, but they also keep an amazing list of links to viewpoints, periodicals, radio and newswires on the front page. ---
