Austin Butler’s suits are the worst of '80s shoulder pads combined with the worst of contemporary tieless casual looks - a low-cut undershirt (“wifebeater”). That’s fitting, I guess, since his character is Feyd-Ruatha Harkonnen. ---

Looking forward to seeing him in this role - he seems like a goofball country boy at first, but he had a minor role as a prison guard in _Minority Report_, and he had a lowkey menace. “Harmless-seeming schlub who’s actual deadly” - which is Fenrig - seems right in his wheelhouse. Taylor-Joy’s somewhat exotic looks would do well for Alia, save of course for her being way too old to play a toddler. Unless there’s some weird-ass CGI? Alia is uncannily mature, due to her prenatal exposure to the Reverend Mothers’ collective memory pool; I could see trying to age down an adult actor via CGI to play her, rather than cast a child, if that’s at all possible. ---

Ooh, I think you’ve nailed it. CGI alteration of an actor was not an option for either prior version, but now is a viable technique. Having an actual adult play Alia would definitely bring home the oddness. ---

Josh Brolin posted a Dune 2 summary on his Instagram page. I’ll spoiler it for the purists, but there really aren’t any spoilers if you’ve read the book, and if you haven’t, it won’t make any sense.
