Well, I’ve been moving the dust around my place, in anticipation of **Zyada** ’s visit (see the thread: [Vancouver/PNW/DFW Dopefest!](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=53487)), and she tells me I should post this little story I told her.

* * *

I was never much good at housecleaning.

In fact, I once kept a dust bunny as a pet. It lived under my couch, and I’d feed it crumbs and bits of lint. Sometimes I’d take it into the bathroom and let it clean out my hairbrush.

But it was growing so fast that I knew it couldn’t last.

One morning I woke up to find it on the pillow next to me, nibbling on a sideburn. I pushed it away, and the damn thing _bit_ me!

I chased it around, finally caught it, and threw it off the balcony into the park. It bounced a couple of times, and attacked a sheepdog.

I never knew sheepdogs were so skinny!

Of course the dog’s owner was so upset he dropped his newspaper and ran off after the dog. The paper fell open at a feature about Arctic vacations, and the last I saw of the dust bunny, it was heading north waving a picture of a polar bear.

I once lived in an flat and kept finding huge dust balls in just one location.

I’d clean them up and when next I’d look, there’d be more. And they were so big, and fully developed.

How could this be?

I became obsessed, sometimes there were two or three seemingly out of no where.

Eventually it came to light that my SO and my roommate were in cahoots. They were collecting them from the basement and depositing them secretly in the chosen spot, just to torment me.

It went on for months. It was very annoying.

LOL, I hope you manage to evict the rest of the dust bunnies!

I have a large, white dog named Bean. She sheds consistantly throughout the year in amazing quantites. One would think she should be bald by now judging by the amount of hair she loses daily.

I’m always finding “Bean Bunnies” under the furniture. I’ve told hubby that it’s too bad we can’t find a use for them commercially, such as using it for stuffing.

Jesus! I laughed so hard when the page opened. I thought it had to be a joke, and then I read:

> [@](#):
>
> Imagine the warmth and luxury of a fur hat. A hat made with humanely obtained fur from your very own dog!

And then:

> [@](#):
>
> For some people, making yarn from dog hair is a practical matter. By viewing it as a renewable resource and then utilizing that resource, they benefit from something usually unwanted and discarded. . . .More and more people are proudly saying, “Yes, the item I’m wearing is special. It’s Chiengora, the fur from my very own dog.”

(snicker) Unfortunately, though, my dog’s hair is not spinnable.

Thanks for the site!!!

yeah, I knew someone who pun her dogs’ hair (2 or 3 border collies). She then knitted it into great jumpers which had a major advantage…the dog hairs didn’t show up on them!

The only problem with dog fur garments is that when you get caught in the rain, you end up smelling like a wet dog!
