# Dying Cotton fabfic navy blue

I have been trying to dye light blue fabric with Rit navy blue dye. It is about 18 yards of 100% cotton fabric, which I have dyed in the washing maching with 3 bottles of Rit navy blue and salt. The fabric turned out purple. I repeated the whole process and got a deeper purple. How can I get navy blue? Please help!!!

I’d suggest using a good fiber-reactive dye like [Procion](http://www.jacquardproducts.com/procion-mx.html). I can get Procion at my local (Ohio) craft store. Or you can order it online.

A fiber-reactive dye is not as prone to fading with washing, either.
