My father once shared his secret belief with me. He believes that some people on this planet are just soulless props that God sets up for the rest of us to deal with, as some kind of test. It chilled me to the bone when he told me this because at the time I was feeling especially soulless and unreal (though he didn’t know this). I kept thinking to myself, “How do I know if I’m real and not a prop? How _could_ one know?” I resolved the whole thing by dissing the whole concept, thinking it sounded like something a psychopath would come up with. But when I read about this woman, I can’t help but feel she isn’t a real person. As awful as it sounds, I’d like for her to be an empty prop. I can understand this better than “evil”. ---
