Miserable excuse for a human being has been convicted of 32 counts. The jury will now have to decide whether he rots in what will surely be solitary confinement for the rest of his life, or whether he gets the death penalty. I don’t think gen pop is in his future. Fuck you, you piece of shit; it will in no way make up for the ruination of the lives of people who are left to mourn. I hope your suffering is agonizing. ---

Is “solitary for life” an option? Imprisonment for life, sure, but solitary? The angel in my nature says life imprisonment, with the same treatment as everybody else. The devil in my nature would like ten minutes and a tire-iron with the guy tied in a chair. ---

You guys are too kind. Let’s remember that this guy shot up a church because he was peeing his pants witht eh thought that shooting people anywhere else might have peopel shooting back at him. This is like, some kind of exponential increase on the base cowardice of a mass shooter has to begin with. ---

I often wonder how a family can possibly, _possibly_ deal with such an extremely bad seed. Can you imagine if a sibling did this? If he was my brother, I’d be first in line to mete out justice. Shoot him in the head and throw him on the burn pile. That’s what I normally do to strays harassing my cows. You guys thinking his environment in the general population of a prison would be rough, forget that the prison system is full of white supremacist gangs that would protect him. ---

He should be executed and forgotten as quickly as possible, although I don’t think the feds would actually carry out the death sentence for him or the Boston bomber. Also many of the victims’ relatives don’t want him executed, maybe their wishes should be respected, although I don’t feel so forgiving myself. ---

Jeeze, when I was a kid the head was the last place you were to shoot strays. Cut off the head, send it to Rabies Control, and toss the rest on the burn pile. And you method depends on the dog actually having a brain. I’ve known some that were so dumb I don’t think they’d know they’d been shot. I suppose rabies is easier to diagnose these days. ---

What we do to a prisoner should depend not on what he is but rather on what we are. He should be imprisoned until death or until he inarguably presents no danger to any person, kept out of solitary confinement (which is cruel and unusual punishment) as much as is consistent with his own safety, and used as an example at every opportunity to demonstrate that youthful embrace of idiotic racist fantasy is a road to opprobrium and disaster. ---
