I wonder if he stopped for a butt during the job? In James Thurber’s classic review of 19th century \*Punch \*magazines, he quoted an anti-smoking verse that both memory and googlefu are failing me on - about a husband who cut off his wife’s head, but lost his nerve halfway through - “twas no joke, he could only finish the job with smoke.” ---

He looks a lot less crazy than I expected. Looks sorta like he’s squatting though. Dumping a deuce as they take your mug shot would be a class thing to do. Demonstrate your disdain for the cops and all. Not to say there might not be “repercussions”. ---

You just can’t judge by the mug shot. [Edmund Kemper](http://murderpedia.org/male.K/k/kemper-edmund.htm) looked fairly normal\*, but he wasn’t very nice to his mama either. \*On second thought, not _that_ normal. ---
