[Another one from Florida](http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/World/2015/01/08/22170351.html). This is the guy who threw his daughter off a bridge. Is it just me or does his eyes seem really close together? ---

I give up on trying to defend Florida, everytime I do some other nutjobs step up their game. Maybe the mild weather just makes it easier for the crazies to be active all year round, maybe the Sunshine laws make it easier to find these stories, maybe our law enforcement and child welfare are overworked and underpaid and these people just get missed until they do something terrible? Maybe it’s just observational bias, people expect crazy from Florida so when something happens in Florida it makes the National News and when it happens in Ohio or Michigan it just makes it as far as local or regional? Whatever. Maybe it will keep more people from moving here. ---

Ft Myers. Southern gulf coast. Florida does generate more of these stories because of the generally unregulated nature of the state. In addition to the home-grown madness, it also seems to attract these kind of folks from everywhere east of the Mississippi. Florida is Americas sump. ---
