All right, the regular season is done, so let’s see who can pick the Super Bowl a month ahead of time. In [year 1](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=231858), it was **Trillionaire** who beat the pack. [Year 2](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=294932), **Uncommon Sense** schooled the rest of us. And [last year](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=352167), it was **Airman Doors, USAF** who walked away with all the marbles. This year, I’ll once again be throwing caution to the wind and picking with my heart instead of my head: **Giants over the Chargers, 38-23**. As always, just in case you don’t follow football but still wanna play along, just pick an AFC team, an NFC team, and a couple of numbers that sound vaguely football-scorish. AFC Teams: San Diego Chargers, Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots, N.Y. Jets, Kansas City Chiefs NFC Teams: Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys, N.Y. Giants ---

I grew up in Philadelphia and I’ve been suffering ever since Jaws and Co. lost to Oakland/LA. I have been a fan of Garcia since he was here with SF. But my head rules, and my head says Chargers over Saints 38-7. Sorry Saints fans, but that’s the way I see it. Chargers are the hottest team in AFC now (which ain’t saying much), while Saints are strongest/hottest team in NFC. I can’t pick Cowboys, Giants, or Seahawks; they’ve all been in a profound slump for the past month. It’s harder to pick who’s hot in the NFC, but I haven’t been impressed with Chicago as much as I have with the Saints. On the AFC side, I have to go with the Chargers; they’re on a roll and very strong. One can only hope that we get a reasonably interesting Superbowl out of it. BTW, watch out for the Niners next year. They finished with some impressive wins. Smith is looking better and better all the time, and lost in the rest of the hoopla is the fact that Gore led the NFC in rushing, the first time that _any_ Niner has lead the conference in rushing. ---
