Pfft. The Vikings deliberately dropped seven of their last ten games (and tried to lose an eighth, but the damned Lions wouldn’t kick the PAT!) just to lull the rest of the NFC into a false sense of security. Vikings over Packers this weekend, then they travel to top-seeded Philly and spank them, and then, oh, let’s say they get revenge on Atlanta in the NFC Championship when this time THEIR kicker misses a chipshot and the Vikes advance 30-27. Then Peyton Manning continues his season and tosses five touchdown passes in each playoff game, and the two teams face off in a Super Bowl remembered for the power outage caused by the scorekeepers trying to make an update after every play. Colts over Vikings 73-70 on a last-second field goal. ---

Okay, so my only inaccuracy so far was Peyton Manning passing for four and running for one TD instead of passing for five. The future is hazy and I can only do my best to discern the fates… Smooth lno’s lock of the week predictions: Pittsburgh over New York. Doug Brien returns to his true self and shanks a few extra points along with a missed field goal or two. Indianapolis over New England. The weather clears and Manning puts up four TDs. Atlanta over St Louis. Marshall Faulk is old, too old to begin his training as a Jedi Knight. Minnesota over Philadelphia. Moss tops his endzone performance of the wildcard game, but the mists of the future obscure just what he’ll do… And my prediction of MN over ATL in the NFC game holds. This year _we_ have Morten Andersen. Ha-HA! ---
