Early Super Bowl Pick Time!

Why yes I did. And I must say, Arizona did a great job in handing them their wild card spot.

P.S. Good news: I was the only one in our work pool to pick Arizona, which gave me the win for the week.

Bad news: Because of the holidays, we had only 4 participants (instead of our usual 30-35). Woohoo! Big $20 win for me!

D’oh! Stupid brain! :smack:
-“their wild card spot” +“the NFC North”.

Broncos over Eagles: 34 - 16

I like the way you think, brianjedi  However, while I am one around this town who does think that the right guy has the starting QB job, he’d have to seriously step it up to get SB MVP, or any other MVP award for that matter. I’d see that more likely going to Holt or Faulk.

It will be:

New England: 28
Green Bay: 10

What, nobody is picking the Seahawks?

OK, me either.

Titans 27
Eagles 23

Packers - 31

Colts - 17

Will be a great Super Bowl!

Line as of 1/31 8:00 AM EST

Baltimore Ravens 18-1
Carolina Panthers 30-1
Dallas Cowboys 50-1
Denver Broncos 15-1
Green Bay Packers 11-1
Indianapolis Colts 15-1
Kansas City Chiefs 7-1
New England Patriots 2-1
Philadelphia Eagles 7-2
Seattle Seahawks 65-1
St. Louis Rams 7-1
Tennessee Titans 16-1

I’m in Houston. My brain will explode if this happens, but my pick is…drumroll please…

Tennessee 24
Dallas 21

GB also got in because they won their last 4 games and went 7-2 in their last 9 games on the season (record since bye week)! They beat their last 4 opponents by a score of 144-52 scoring an average of 36 pts/game during that span.

Momentum is the main factor going into the playoffs and the Packers have that big time right now!

Not sure what would happen in my household if this actually came to pass, but:

Pats 17
Eagles 14

Wild Card Weekend only knocked five players out of the running. Not too shabby. Here’s who remains:

Me: Rams 34, Patriots 24
Mr. Blue Sky: Chiefs 27, Rams 19
Flymaster: Patriots 31, Rams 13
NothingMan: Patriots 28, Eagles 17 (Lucky for him, I went with his “what I think will happen” choice)
The Peyote Coyote: Colts 31, Rams 24
5 time champ: Patriots 41, Eagles 10
Reeder: Panthers 13, Patriots 12
Carcosa: Panthers 13, Patriots 12
Grace: Eagles 24, Chiefs 10
brianjedi: Rams 31, Patriots 17
Trillionaire: Patriots 17, Panthers 6
Shaggarito: Packers 38, Colts 28
Bobby Roberts: Packers 35, Patriots 21
bouv: Patriots 28, Packers 10
zoog: Titans 27, Eagles 23
yola: Packers 31, Colts 17
vix: Patriots 17, Eagles 14

I agree, Bobby R.. The Packers have been playing great lately. And although I’d have to rate their performance yesterday as “good” at best (I was expecting them to blow Seattle away), I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for next weekend. The Packers may be my third most-hated team, but that makes them my pick against my number one most-hated Eagles.

And no, zoog, nobody picked the Seahawks (lucky for them :)).

FYI, the players who did pick losing teams were: xayoz306 (Ravens), Weirddave (Ravens), Krebnar the Magnificent (Ravens), Dolores Reborn (Cowboys), lieu (Broncos).

Hey, I’m still in with both my August and December picks. What, do I really need to give you a score now?

It’s all in fun, ShibbOleth, so sure – toss 'em in there. Will it be Pats over Eagles or Eagles over Titans, and what’s your score prediction?

If it’s Pats over Eagles then it’s 33-17. If it’s Eagles over Titans then I’d probably say 24-21 in OT.

Eleven players gone, seven left standing:

NothingMan: Patriots 28, Eagles 17
5 time champ: Patriots 41, Eagles 10
Reeder: Panthers 13, Patriots 12
Carcosa: Panthers 13, Patriots 12
Trillionaire: Patriots 17, Panthers 6
vix: Patriots 17, Eagles 14
ShibbOleth: Patriots 33, Eagles 17

Damn you, Mike Martz! To hell with playing for the tie…go for the end zone!

I’m too late to play this game, but I take comfort in knowing you’re all going to lose.

And I’m not talking about the Colts.

Huh…I didn’t even catch on to the fact that no one left picked the Eagles to win. But that does make sense, seeing as they’re the Masters Of “Almost”. It’s pretty much a given that they’ll continue their choking streak this Sunday.

Who knows? Someday they may be able to shed their late-playoff laughingstock image, but it’s not happening this year.

Nothing like hearing Andy Reid’s annual excuse-fest on WYSP radio’s Eagles Coaches Show to put a big 'ol smile on my face.

And then there were three:

Reeder: Panthers 13, Patriots 12
Carcosa: Panthers 13, Patriots 12
Trillionaire: Patriots 17, Panthers 6

Best part is that the Panthers were picked both ways, so there’s going to be a winner or a tie. (Now I’ll have to read back through the thread and see whether it was Reeder or Carcosa that was damned unoriginal. Interestingly at the end of the second game this weekend we we’re debating whether the O/U would be 25 or 30 for this game. I didn’t see the opening spreads yet, will be interesting to see how many points the Patriots fans have to give.

Just to follow up on the odds, today’s odds in USA Today has the Patriots giving 6.5 points and the Over/Under at 38 (one is at 37.5). I had predicted a spread of 7-7.5 at the end of the game, but it will move a lot by Super Bowl weekend.
