(Just teasing you, bud)
You gave me an anxious night.
Having experienced several earthquakes when I lived in northern Japan (the strongest being a 7.5 that brought down a portion of our ceiling), IMO, the safest place to be is outside. After that aforementioned biggie, I bought a pair of hard rubber-soled slippers that I wore at all times, so I could run outside at a moments notice. I’ve never believed the doorway thing.

What if you can’t get outside? Then can you get in a doorway, or hide under a desk, or cower next to a bed? How about the bathtub?
Well, if you ask me, if you can’t get out of the building during an earthquake, the best you can do is try to avoid being in the path of any heavy objects, (tall furniture, etc.). Other than that, I really don’t think it matters a bit where you are. You picks your spot and takes your chances.
