I’m in downtown. Pretty good ride here on the 5th floor. Slightly sickening for a while with the sway. They still won’t let us use the elevators since they’re still going over the building. My wife works in Ontario and got it a bit stronger out there. Our house is 10 miles from the epicenter, so it’ll be interesting to see if anything fell over when we get home. ---

No cellphone service _chez **-99** _. This is with both Sprint and Virgin Wireless. Anyone else having a problem with that? ---

[/QUOTE] I didn’t try to make any calls, but I texted my wife twice right after, and she still hasn’t gotten them (Verizon). Fortunately, we’ve been able to email each other. ---

Seems the phone network got slammed for 15 minutes. I think it’s back to normal, if phone networks have a ‘normal’. 🙂 I am out on the East coast, but hoping everyone on the Left Coast is ok. ---

Alright here, we got evacuated for about 20 minutes. Haven’t been able to reach my SO yet though. I’m sure he’s fine, his office is in glendale. ---

Hmmm…interesting. About 9 minutes later, three aftershocks, all of them 3.8, all of them in a span of 23 seconds, and no more than a mile apart. I bet there are some freaked out people there in Sleepy Hollow. ---

Sounds like a pretty good ride. **kaylasdad** , after Northridge, it’s a distinctly odd thing to know that the ground under my feet can move like that. She’ll get used to the idea, I did. The Earth is habitable, it’s just that she likes to throw these little surprises at us now and again. I’m not in earthquake country at the moment, but having been, it’s really strange the first time you feel something like that! ---

My first earthquake. Definitely an adrenaline-producing experience- I felt a little vertigo for a bit afterwards. Am working in Marina del Rey. Wheew! ---

And now the numbers have changed again… 5.4 M main shock. One of the 3.8s got downsized to 2.0…that’s a huge correction, not typical. ---

Now they’re downgrading it to a 5.4. I thought a 5.9 sounded high from the looks of things. Aftershocks still being reported in Chino Hills. ---

Ok this is ridiculous, I still have vertigo. I’ve never been in a quake like this (only been in SoCal since '04) but this is really nuts. ---

Once I saw a guy wearing flippers and a snorkel. I love those guys.
