I was in the grocery store today and saw a small display of Easter candies, things like Russell Stover’s marshmallow eggs, and Cadbury cream filled eggs. How can they have this stuff out before Valentine’s Day? Easter isn’t until April 8th! Actually, part of the reason I’m dismayed is that I crave the Cadbury Eggs, but I’m trying to lose weight. And there they sit, calling my name, tempting me. ---

I’m sure eventually the years will just become an endless, repeating pattern. of “Buy this!” The Valentine’s Day and Easter supplies will come out on New Year’s Day. Halloween candy will be put on shelves the day after Easter, and Christmas decorations will be put up around mid-September. ---

Good! I love Brach’s jelly beans, and no one sells them in my small town. Walgreens, CVS, and Wal-Mart sell their own store brands, but they’re not as good as Brach’s. Other than that, I hate to see holidays rushed. ---

The demand for Peeps is too great to hold Easter back. Soon Peeps will be an everyday candy. Watch out Snickers. ---

In my local supermarket they’d cleared out all the Christmas stuff and put in Easter stuff on Boxing Day - Christmas wasn’t even over! And between now and then there’s Valentine’s Day. It wasn’t just creme eggs, but Easter Eggs, chicks and other gifts. Who on Earth is going to buy an Easter Egg four months in advance? ---

I complained about this to a cashier at Rite Aid. She claimed they really aren’t Easter candy, but they’re for Valentine’s Day:rolleyes: ---

In the early 2000s, there were a few times when my mother actually put Cadbury’s Creme Eggs in my stocking, knowing how much I love them. (Yes, I was in college at the time, but she still, to this day, makes up stockings for all her kids). But within the last few years, it looks like they wait until at least Christmas is over.
