I found some really nice frozen tamales. They taste about a million times better than the canned ones.
What to eat with them? If I microwave a couple for a snack, I don’t want to bother with opening a can of chilli.

Well, it’s not all that quick, but Spanish rice goes great with tamales. Also, try slicing up some avacado and toss in a dallop of sour cream.

If you can’t even be bothered to open a can, then we can’t really suggest any prepared dishes. So I reckon you just shove 'em in your gob by the half-dozen and wash 'em down with a Dos Equis.

Works for me anyway.

If you can find any Raspberry Chipotle sauce in your neck of the woods, it tastes wonderful over tamales.

Man, I love tamales.

If you’re just nuking a couple for a snack, just use a bit of grated cheese and some taco sauce (I like Pico Pica).

If you want to make a whole meal, make some Dog Food Casserole (this is actually a recipe for Easy Tamale Pie, but at my house we call it Dog Food Casserole. When you make it’ you’ll see why. Don’t let its looks stop you, though. This is a _really_ good recipe)

Spray a casserole dish with pam. Mix the following into it:

8 frozen tamales, unwrapped and broken into chunks
1 can of chili with beans
1 small can of sliced black olives
a cup or so of frozen corn

Stir it all together (look! It looks like dog food!) and top with grated cheese. Bake it at 350 until hot and bubbly. Excellent, excellent stuff.

You will thank me, **PapSett** – it is some _good_ stuff. Plus the fun of telling the family you are serving Dog Food Casserole for dinner.

I guess this is essentially the same thing, but I like _chili con queso_ on mine.

You gotta have rice and beans with tamales. Or fideo. Its a mexican style pasta you cook it the same way you would spanish rice. In Spanish it’s called sopa.

Pinto beans and some fresh pico de gallo. May be a bit of a bother, but a nice reward.

Why, oh god, why…??? No answer necessary, as there can be no reason on earth for this…

Dear G-d.

BTW, menus without dairy are appreciated. ;j

Well, you can’t deny that there’s no dairy in Miracle Whip.

A long debate could be had over whether there’s any food, _per se_ in Miracle Whip, of course.

There is, however, no dairy in actual mayonnaise – just eggs, oil and vinegar.

Sorry, didn’t mean to hijack. It’s just that that was my culinary nightmare come to life, also causing me to lose my last shred of social courtesy as I shrieked, “You put MIRACLE WHIP on these???” at my hubby’s cousin who I had just met for the first time a few minutes earlier.

Anyway, tamales are good with just about any kind of sauce or topping. I’m partial to a nice green chile sauce, myself. With sour cream.

Goodness, no. Warning folks about that sort of thing is a public service. 🙂
