This has gone from mildly irritating, to amusing, to _surreal._ **Love Me Vol. 1** , apparently, is off the ledge. **Ambushed** is afraid that the end of Western Civilization is nigh. **Mhendo** posted a melodramatic tear jerker and vows to post as usual, even if it leads to his (?) banning. Prior to that, **Mhendo** offered up a summary of his posting history, letting us know that he’s likely to call someone a chunt once every 5000 posts or so. With that torrid history of online abuse, I figure in about March of 2012 or so he won’t be _banned_, or even _warned_, but be told _“Mhendo, knock it off.”_ I believe \*\*DSYounfEsq \*\* (iirc) said it was the most sensible post of the thread, and while I agree with that assessment, they both appear to be oblivious to the fact that **Mhendo** ’s post could have been written by Ed. Assuming **Mhendo** ’s telling the truth, **Mhendo** is exactly the type of poster that should be carrying on business as usual—exactly the type of poster that Ed and Dex have _gone out of their way_ to say won’t be affected by this simple, sensible, minor rule change. \*\*RobuSensei \*\*, [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHmvkRoEowc](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHmvkRoEowc) , feeling neglected, opened a new thread in hopes of getting some attention. We’ve got some inane poll going around as if it’s anything but a “Me too” poll. (can you see A.C. Nielson subcontracting out a presidential poll to David Axlerod?) Lost in all this juvenile madness is what Ed & Dex have actually said. (and it would appear that most haven’t read it but are moving along this petulant trail with a herd mentality.) Enough is enough. The “we need a place to vent” theme was always a non-starter. Still Ed and Dex have _ **gone out of their way** _ to say that the spirit of The Pit----the ability to be insulting, to be raucous, to use profanity, and to flame will remain. \*Only the most juvenile, vile, witless and stupid abuse \*needs to stop. And yet post after post has responded to this simple, minor rule change as akin to tearing up the First Amendment. This childish, petulant behavior is beyond the pale. It’s time to grow up. Ed, make it 400 pesos: You’ve built a nice franchise. (but I suspect you’re having a hard time trying to figure out how to monetize it) It looks to me that you have tried to be considerate to your “customers”. (some of which haven’t cared enough to pony up 15 bucks before starting their crying) But it’s clear to me that they will continue to piss and moan and cry and accuse and berate----not until you answer them (as you already have)-----but _ **until you give them the answer they want.** _ You’ve let them “vent.” (a euphemism for acting like spoiled children) At some point the discussion needs to be over and we need to get back to life. Make your decision(s). Lock the threads. Let’s go through the learning/transition process, including the inevitable sacrificial bannings. On the other side of this, the miscreants will be gone, and the board will actually be more creative, more vibrant, more intelligent—and no less raucous, or funny. Enough is enough with this melodramatic nonsense. ---

Really? I’d invite you, per Ed’s rule #7 (the “quotes” one) about linking to the specific behavior. Document where **Ambushed** said that the changes on the SDMB would cause civilization to collapse. Where is **I Love Me** threatening suicide or making any similar threats? You’ve called posters you disagree with “spoiled children”–certainly a pit-worthy phrase under the old or new rules. How can you, one of the two most pro-“Clean up this message-board” posters possibly hope to gain credibility if you can’t follow the rules yourself? A And for that matter, you’ve stated repeatedly you want a “more creative, more vibrant, more intelligent” board? Can you link to any of your posts that make the board “more creative, more vibrant”? Lead by example, young padwan. ---

When do you suppose it occurred to Ed that there was a large group of posters who were unhappy with the new rules? Do you remember any post that said, “Hey guys, we’ve said our peace. Let it go.” Of course not. The torrent of posts continue, long, long ,long after the point has been made. It looks to me that you object not so much to the frequency (or redundancy) of my posts (for if redundancy were the issue you’d be apoplectic by now), but the content. ---
