I reported **Sapo** ’s post (others may well have too). I did so assuming they would ban him for it. Not because it was a threat - it obviously wasn’t - but because he had _clearly_ become one of those posters who post pretty much entirely to goad the mods. Some posters get like this. Some of them have good reasons for getting upset in the first place. But if you become one of those posters, you’re going to go. And if you think you’re clever enough to stay just this side of the line, you’re going to go sooner because it’s really obvious. We all know this. So even if you reckon you’ve got a legitimate beef against the administration about something - and many (including me) do - you’ve got to decide to go or stay and move on and post mostly about things other than the administration of the boards. Or you risk leaving a jerk. ---

He posted critical comments against mods in threads that were critical about mods in the correct forum. If you didn’t think it was a threat then there was no reason to report. ---

The ignore button was made for people like you, at least it was back in the day when it made any sense to use it. Now, all you have to do is report someone’s posts and if he has violated the one unviolable law of the SDMB, which used to be “Don’t be a jerk” but now is “Don’t piss \*\*Ed \*\*off,” he’s gone. You’ve done an awful thing here, by acting on your offendedness and reporting him. ---

I’m one of those people whose post counts cause people to wonder whether I post extensively in Lord of the Rings minutiae threads. \*If \*the mods saw my report, my handle wouldn’t have caused them to think “wow, \*hawthorne \* reported it, it must be serious!” **Sapo** doesn’t remotely offend or upset me. Do you people think that **Sapo** ’s post - a direct response to **Lynn** and in a thread that at least some other mods are reading - would somehow go unnoticed if it hadn’t been reported?
