Colibri, if you really wanted Sapo to drop this and let it go, you should have skipped that entire explanation. Because you have just given him enough fodder to make a game of Latin Knifey-Spooney look like a Mexican spork fight. No way are we going to be on an internet message board, trying to avoid the terms of internet speak when talking to other members of our subculture. If ‘bring pie’ means ‘fuck your grandpa in the arm pit’ in the black ghettos of America, I am not about to complain if someone on the SDMB who happens to also be from a black ghetto says it to me on the SDMB. And mopping the floor with your ass was clearly in the context of debate. I have been asked on this board in the past not to express my perception as fact, and I never really thought I did that, but damn it, I am doing it now. I am expressing it as fact. He did not mean that shit as a physical threat in any shape, way or form, period. Now cut that out. ---

**Colibri** , if you are going to present yourself as an authority of sorts in all things Latin American, I am rather surprised, given your profession, that you’re apparently unaware if the cultural implications of frogs in Puerto Rico. In particular they have two species indigenous to the island that are not only rather famous, but again, form part of Puerto Rican lore. One of them is the “[coqui](http://www.elboricua.com/coqui.html)” and one only need visit Pto. Rico to find its image on all sorts of tourist souvenirs and the other is the “[sapo concho](http://www.vocero.com/noticia-12464-primero_fue_el_coqu_ahora_es_el_sapo_concho.html)” which, as you may or may not know, is an endangered species. Thus coquis and sapos are easily identified w/Puertoricans. In fact, I hadn’t noticed this particular poster until recently but once I saw his peculiar syntax and his user-name – and trust me, no Sherlock I – it wasn’t that difficult to conclude that he was Pto. Rican. So your implications on his user name and what he said are quite nonsensical – granted, I am originally from Spain but probably have as many years as you living in L.A. BTW, how would you translate this particular American idiom, “butthurt” into Spanish? Because nothing I am coming up with makes any sense – much less thinking of “pulling out a knife over it.” 😕 Take your pick: “duele-culo” o “culo-duele” neither one is an insult I’ve ever heard in Spanish. If you want to go that route I can see using “a tomar por el culo” or “que te den por el culo”, but AFAIAA, those are actually Spanish/Spain insults, and by and large, we use them more as friendly banter between friends than we do as insults. Seriously, I honestly think you took this whole thing to a level that was totally unjustified by either the preceding posts not the subsequent actions. Be a man and retract your bullshit. * * * OTOH, now that I’ve seen some of Sapo’s posts and followed some links provided to prior petty complaints of his, it does seem like the guy is a busy-body intent on showing that he can “bring down The Man” or whatever Quixotic BS runs through his mind – or worse yet, as you imply (and here I can agree w/you) he is just being a dick and getting into TPTB faces just to get a rise out of all of you while at the same time playing to the gallery. I guess Warhol’s “ten minutes of fame” can now be interpreted to include the Internet. Fuckin’ retarded if you ask me, but there it is. ---

I am not sure Colibri was making any implications on my name. Other than saying that it means “toad” which it does. I don’t think there is a good translation of butthurt into Spanish (or even a bad one). The idea is simply not there. There are many good terms for what [butthurt](http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=butthurt)means, and many good terms for homophobic slams but none of those would translate to butthurt. “Culodolido” has a funny ring to it but nobody would know what you are talking about. In line to “a tomar por el culo” (an expression that I never understood but always found hilarious), Venezuelan males use “marico” all the time in a way not different to how Americans use “dude”, even if the dictionary will tell you that it is a derogatory term for “gay”. “Marico, pasame la sal” is perfectly acceptable at the dinner table as long as grandma is not around. Anyways, my apologies for fighting ignorance in a perfectly good pile on.
