# Edit window after thread closure

Out of curiosity, and only because this is the Straight Dope…

If I were to post a message to a thread, and a moderator…be it one of our new, or newer, or old, or older ones comes along and closes the thread, does that automatically kill the my edit window? Or would I theoretically be able to edit the post in a closed thread?  
I don’t expect to ever need to know this…but Inquiring Mind(s) Want To Know.

You can edit, but you can’t post the changes since the thread is closed. I speak from not only theory, but experience.
