# Editing "very bad words" out of thread titles

Interesting! I never considered the factual meaning of that phrase. What’s a “jot,” then?

It’s derived from _iota_, the smallest Greek letter. [Jot or tittle.](http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/jot-or-tittle.html)
