# Editing Your Posts.

Why does it seem some members are editing their posts? Is this a joke? A typical edit note might go at the end of a post like this:

_Last edited by nnn : 04-29-2007 at 03:18 PM._

In any event, I am going to try this. If it works, I will remove the following sentence:

Son of a gun! It works! I can edit my post. How long has this function been around? I’ve only noticed it recently.

Wait a minute. Something weird has happened. I no longer see the edit button. What happened to it?

The edit function is only available for 5 minutes after the post is submitted. When we got the new server some new toys were given to us ( editing, PMs, etc.).

And it’s also an honor system. If the edit function is abused past the point of tolerance it will be taken away again. I usually either put why I edited in the “reason” field, or just put my additions after an “ETA:”.

A habit I took from another MB is to put the edit after ‘edit:’  
Unless the edit is to correct grammar or something in which case I don’t bother.

My edits are usually afterthoughts not appropriate for their own post.
