Oh, I LOATHE the Doodlebops. How many times do they say “We’re the Doodlebops” in the show open? I hate the ugly moose on the wall that makes stupid puns. I hate that Mo is missing from the beginning of every episode. I hate the girl’s hideous giggle. Oooo I hate them all.

Thank heaven my little one mostly wants to watch Little Einsteins, which I can watch without heaving. Although I’m still annoyed the show’s creator, the force behind the Baby Einstein videos, put her daughter in Baby Bach. Has anyone see this? The precious little darling, who is unmiked, makes a couple of obviously unplanned statements that are just so “adorable” that they put them into the otherwise well-produced video. Oh the boss’s daughter said something cute? Well, get that video in, STAT.

1. I’m surprised no one has mentioned Teletubbies, but I guess that’s because it doesn’t fall under the rubric of educational. See, I think they ARE trying to teach kids something: the lesson is “TV is God. God is in You, and You shall worship God, the TV.”
I watched it one day while massively doped up on codeine after having my wisdom teeth removed. The drugs helped, and I’m sure it probably would have been even better if I was high and not just sleepy from narcotics.

Might I suggest [Amendment to Be](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xPXOr40XhI)?

ZOOM! I hated it as a kid, I hate it now. Unfortunately, I live with four people who love it. When I hear ZOOM! come on, I grab a book and run.

Well my distain for Max and Ruby has already been mentioned here - I keep hoping for a crossover with Elmer Fudd because after all of those years of dealing with Bugs, he should bag those two in about eight minutes.

Lazy Town is weird - I finally wiki’d it to find out it is made in Iceland which explains the thick accents - but not the creepy pupets. Oh, and if you look at the credits, you see that the Sportacus guy is pretty much the brains behind the whole operation.

Oswald moves at a glacial pace, but I give it one bonus point for hiring Squiggy to voice a penguin.

My kids never really got into the Boobahs or teletubies, so I am greatful for that

Dora and Diego are just as dumb as the shows I watched as a kid so who am I to complain.

I actually really like Big Big World (the one with the stoned sloth in the tree) but my ex-husband HATES it. He said, “This show makes me with I were a Republican, so I could hate it even more.”

Elmer Fudd is a moron- even if he were to hunt someone as domesticated as Max and Ruby, he’d find some way to screw it up. I imagine Max playing hide-and-seek with Elmer and running away before Elmer uncovers his eyes, then Elmer attempting in vain to find him.

_ZOOM_ was cancelled last year and replaced with a very enjoyable educational game show called _Fetch! with Ruff Ruffman_, though I imagine it may be still in reruns in some areas. I didn’t mind _ZOOM_- I was very shocked when I heard Jared was killed by a drunk driver last year.

Nepotism\>selling the company to Disney

Yeah, maybe you’re right.

Oh, I’m gonna have to disagree with you there. Dave Frishberg’s _I’m Just A Bill_ is loved for some reason, but it’s mostly talking. It’s amazing how different all the songs were in terms of style, from Bob Dorough’s funky _Conjunction Junction_ to his touching _Figure Eight_. Catchy and educational- I still use some of the math ones to help figure out my times tables.

I never understood the hatred for Elmo. At first, I thought the current balance of Sesame Street- in which the “street story” is the beginning of the show, and the segments are introduced by a character, was a lot different from the way the show used to be- the “street story” took up the entire show, and the segments were used as “commercials.” Sony Wonder put out a very enjoyable _Sesame Street Old School_ DVD set last year- looking at the show’s very first episode, I see that it wasn’t always the case- there was no “street story,” and each segment was introduced by a character casually mentioning it in the catalog. As for _Elmo’s World_- that has no historical equivalent, but I don’t mind it. Or Elmo.

A week or two back I went into a burger place for lunch, just as they opened. As I sat there waiting for my order, I noticed their TV had Oswald wandering around his house and finding a dripping tap. His attempted repair turned into a flood that carried him and the dog (on the couch and an armchair, respectively) all over the town.

I liked it!

Maybe it helped that there was no sound, and I only watched a few minutes before the waitress came in to say it was her favourite show, before switching it back to Fox news. But I still like the look of it.
I have to admit…_looks furtively around for the Mommy brigade_…I really don’t like Elmo. Hate the little red hyper whiny beast, in fact. I used to love Sesame Street because they didn’t talk down to me as a kid, and now this? He’s annoying and infantalizing and of course he’s my toddler’s favorite. :smack:
My husband and I hate Elmo, too. We love old Sesame Street (even have the DVDs), and Elmo’s just a little freak.

So what did my son get at Christmas? An Elmo stuffed animal.

What’s now his favorite toy to play with in the crib, thanks to my mom visiting and giving it to him?

:smack:

And oh, can I add Caillou? Saw this when I was visiting my family and my mom turned it on for my nephew. Wow. What a whiny little fucker. Is it just me, or does he whine to get what he wants, every single time?

(Now, I love the Wiggles. I turn them on so we can dance around the room, and my kiddo loves it. My husband, OTOH, would rather have hot metal pokers shoved in his eyes than listen to the Wiggles.)

It’s not just you, he does whine all the time. It’s why I never let that show be turned on and Elmo.. I don’t mind him in small doses. Elmopalooza is a favourite of mine (Yes, mine. I like the music okay?) and Elmo in Garbageland is surprisingly watchable (or was when I was babysitting, we don’t have that one), but his own show and on Sesame Street I just want to kill the little red bastard. My son just isn’t interested in him though. Borrowed a video from the library and he ignored it.

Doodlebops are Canadian? I had no idea.

Hate, hate, HATE Angelina, Ballerina.
I didn’t include her because I didn’t know if she could be considered educational. But I won’t even let that on my TV. I always imagine that I turn the TV off and she has to go back in the cage and be tested for the toxicity of genital acid or something equally painful. God, I cannot convey how much I hate hearing her voice on TV.

And the Bit Comfy Couch girl creeps me the hell out.

The Wiggles rule for eternity. Love Bear as well. All hail Beakman. We watch it together every Saturday morning (mom, husband and boys).
**Lazy Town** is creepy. Didn’t anybody think that those puppets would scare little kids. They kind of scare me. The only reason for the show’s existence is that Sporticus is eye-candy for the moms who get stuck watching with their kids.
I happen to enjoy Lazy Town, and I’m not the only one; YouTube has several episodes of it in quite a few languages, so there are other fans out there. I like the slightly bombastic style of the show, and Robbie Rotten’s antics and costumes crack me up. I prefer to watch it in Icelandic, though; it makes more sense to me that way.

I saw a couple of episodes of Oswald. It’s cute and reminds me of the Mr. Happy books with all the smileys who represent different emotions, attitudes and behaviors. I also think the visual pun of him having a weiner dog is cute.

One more fond memory for School Rock: “Suffering until Sufferage” sung to a light bubble-gum bop beat.
