Election day polls in Guam opened 40 minutes ago. They have no electoral votes, but [Guam’s presidential straw poll has predicted the winner of the popular vote since 1980](https://www.guampdn.com/news/harris-or-trump-guam-votes-in-non-binding-us-presidential-straw-poll/article_b14f3d3c-9a59-11ef-a3b1-e3d8504afe3a.html), according to my link (only since 1984 according to Wikipedia). Results will apparently be available late Tuesday morning, Eastern Standard Time (New York). ---

Sometimes I’m wrong. – I have a meeting tomorrow night. But as of this late afternoon I’ve got a sudden sore throat. If I’m too sick to go to the meeting, and/or if the covid test I haven’t taken yet turns up positive, the silver lining (if it is a silver lining) is that I’ll be able to have horrible election jitters here all evening, instead of having to be at a meeting trying to concentrate on something else. If I do go to the meeting, which is unlikely even if the first test is negative (you’re supposed to take two, and there won’t be time for the second before I’d have to leave) unless I feel entirely fine tomorrow morning, I probably won’t be home till around 9:30 (EST) and it might be later. Polls will have closed a number of places by then. In any case, I’m glad I’ve already voted. ---

I assume Dixville Notch will be reporting in about 3 hours. I still recall that it went 11-1 for Dewey in 1948. Not much of a bellwether. ---

These are my final predictions; - Harris will match or exceed Biden’s EV count in 2020 - Voters who were upset by the comments at Trump’s MSG rally will push her over the top in PA, MI, and (possibly) FL - The media will call the race sometime between 8 PM and midnight, Pacific time - All attempts by Trump and his team to delay, alter, or nullify this result will be unsuccessful - Trump will suffer a physical or mental breakdown by the end of November and be ruled incompetent to stand trial - There will be no repeat of 1/6 and Harris will be sworn in without incident - JD Vance will attempt to position himself as the new face of maga, but Trump’s cult of personality will not transfer over to him and by 2028 maga will no longer be a significant force in the Republican party ---

So how do you plan to handle the actual returns coming in, as in - will you be watching? Snacking? Drinking? Since I’m in Hawai’i, returns from East Coast states will start coming in at a reasonable hour. The joke, but probably serious, comment I’ve been making is, “well, originally I thought I would probably drink steadily (to celebrate or dull the pain as needed) to help me through the election news. But I don’t day drink, and I don’t want to stay tipsy nonstop for days, so I guess that won’t work.” ---
