Biden ran in 1988, 2008 and 2020. Reagan ran as many times. 1968, 1976 and 1980. There could be others though. On a related note, [Harold Stassen](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Stassen) ran 9 times without a whiff of success. 1944, 1948, 1952, 1964, 1968, 1980, 1984, 1988, and 1992 ---

Minor question: does anyone know why CNN won’t update to 214 electoral college votes for Trump? They don’t seem to be counting the Maine one. It’s a little annoying as Washington Post and NYT have had him at 214 for quite a while now. Does CNN not believe it, or are they just slow? ---

If we’re counting [perennial candidates](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perennial_candidates_in_the_United_States) like Stassen who never won the Presidency, Eugene V. Debs had five presidential runs and Norman Thomas had six. ---

Bryan lost all three elections and is better known today for the Scopes “Monkey” trial. ---
