Well, gotta admit, I’m a little disappointed. Visions of Obamunchkins marching in lockstep in the _cutest_ little jackboots you _ever did see_!..dashed, merely the paranoid maunderings of a fool. Admittedly, he didn’t use the word “district”, so I guess that makes them kosher paranoid maunderings. Or something, that part is a bit elusive. Something has happened, though. Used to be, not long ago, crazy ass shit attributed to cackling creeps in the Administration turned out to be flat truth roughly 90% of the time, and slightly exaggerated the other ten. Now, no more. Now, such horrors turn out to be 90% horseshit…pure-d horseshit, mind you, rose bush certified and organic…and the other 10% sheer hysteria. Something very important has changed in this last year, and I just wish I could put my finger on it… But whatever it is, it sure has driven some of us over the edge. Darned if I can figure out what it is… Gonna miss **Sam** , though. Damn shame about that. ---

In addition, did it ever occur to you that when you found out something Bush had done, you were too willing to assign the worst possible motivations to it, and when you’re confronted with something this administration has done, you’re a little too willing to assume it was only done accidentally or with the best of intentions - and that the other side does the same in reverse? Finally, did it ever occur to you that this board operates with just about as much lefty confirmation bias as Free Republic operates with right-wing confirmation bias? That you believe everything you do in part because you hang out in a place where a whole bunch of other people believe the same thing and reinforce each other? ---

We get to play this over and over, “oh those crazies don’t come from my side, they’re _actually_ libertarians. Those guys carrying guns to town hall meetings? LaRoucheites, not conservatives. Killed an abortion doctor in church? He was the fringe, _conservatives don’t condone that behavior_.” And so fucking on and so forth. Apparently there is no such thing as a “true conservative.” I doubt you’ve seen me debate much on these boards. However, I feel like I’m probably going to start doing it more. Because just like you think “you lefties” need to be kept in check, your bullshit preemptive attempts at pointing out hypocrisy are getting goddamned annoying. You’re not filling a void that needs to be filled with your comments. And over and over again it is pointed out to you that these threads go the same way: the hypocrisy is alleged, the posters from the side in question come in to agree that the event in question is not acceptable and they don’t condone it and therefore is not inconsistent with their original positions, and the OP gets to backpedal. But it doesn’t matter, because you and your cohorts are still convinced, regardless of what ANYONE says, that they really feel a different way. So what’s the fucking point? If everyone responds the opposite of how the OP intends them to, or points out why it’s not inconsistent and you don’t believe them anyway, why are any of us wasting our time? Why did I waste my time responding to you anyway? Because I don’t have anything against you personally, but I find certain tendencies you have personally reprehensible. I think you ought to debate with more integrity, but from years of watching time after time I think it’s not an uncommon perception. I don’t claim moral or intellectual superiority over conservatives, but I will claim moral or intellectual superiority over stupid arguments. ---

This thread is the absolute best example of the stupid, shitty justifications people use for their stupid, shitty, partisan behavior. I fucking hate everyone in this thread, including myself for now having participated in it. You stupid bastards really need to get over the mentality of using someone’s loose political affiliation with others who’ve committed condemnable acts to justify being a fucktard to them and everyone around them with similar political beliefs. I never voted for Bush, but took several of my friends to task for being idiots and blindly believing bullshit partisan smears. This thread is insulting to people who at least try to maintain a measure of fairness and rationality when it comes to politics, because you hacks will _presume_ hypocrisy in anyone with an apparently opposing political philosophy, and when a reasonable person actually does come along, and happens to condemn someone on side X of the political fence, all they hear in response is “side Y did it too”. Guess what, I condemned it then, too. And I voted for X. Fucking ridiculous. ---

Not so. It was 1968 when the destruction of America _began_. It’s been a decades-long process. 😃 My pre-1968 comments were made so as to make it clear that conservatives don’t necessarily regard the fifties as the most ideal time in American life because people didn’t actually start to become the beligerent, accusatory, poorly dressed and ill-behaved (and to a considerable degree, drug-using) assholes they are today until circa 1968. But of course all that was necessary to undo racism. :rolleyes: ---

That’s because, contrary to many of my liberal brethren, I don’t act that way out in public. I regard this as more of a private conversation. Still, the effect has happened to all of society. Conservatives and kids with no particular political affiliation have been Jerry Springerized right along with everyone else.
