Whoa, I just noticed that Tesla stock has dropped 100 points from one month ago (~370 in early August, around the time of the “funding secured” tweet; to about ~280 today). Is this because of the going private debacle, or Elon’s increasingly strange general behavior? Or both? ---

Elon Musk is pointless. Elon’s fanbase is weed smokin STEM-boys. What’s he ever done? Launched a car into the moon, launched a rocket into the sun? STEM-boys slap their dorito-dusted hands together! Simulation hypothesis is unfalsifiable- we live in a simulated universe that’s indistinguishable from the real one, and _that blows peoples minds_? And I’ve never even seen a Tesla in the wild. It’s all backwards. You wanna change the way we do things, they should be really cheap and fucking everywhere. Nah, I think he’s surrounded by sycophants who won’t tell him how stupid he looks brandishing a “flamethrower” that’s about as impressive as a couple torch lighters taped together. ---

To me Apple fans are a cult for a lot of the fans. And from what I’ve seen Tesla is the same for a lot of fans. That’s why I said Musk is Jobs version 2. Jobs was ousted from Apple for a while but they brought him back when they were about to go under. It’s not that unusual for a founder to be fired from a company. ---

Musk is probably easily replaceable at Tesla. I mean, they have the idea, and they are just producing cars at this point in the game and aiming for efficiencies, like any other manufacturer. What’s his value to the company at this stage other than as a petty, unstable scumbag? Has he added anything new and revolutionary to the company recently? ---

Frankly it looks like Ford is going to retain its title as the only American automaker to not go bankrupt. Tesla just can’t keep operating like it does. The short sellers are not wrong that eventually there’ll be a tipping point and the investors and lenders won’t keep throwing money at Musk, especially if he becomes a toxic asset with his antics. The prestige of being associated with the visionary genius is wearing thin. Enjoy, Steven ---
