It would obviously be easy to cheat at any of these feuds. But what would be the point? I’ve always assumed everyone is playing legit. ---

FWIW, I put 42 and didn’t look at the thread first. How about this: while I was only a kid when Elvis died, I read Hitchhiker’s Guide in my teenage formative years. Once I’d heard that he was 42, it stuck with me in a way that 39 or 23 or 47 wouldn’t have. A lot of Hitchhiker fans on this board, just sayin’. ---

I remembered that he was in his forties, and then the number 42 popped into my head, so I went with it. That’s how I make all my decisions. ---

Annoyingly, I also originally thought of the age of 42. Then for some reason I thought that was John Lennon’s age when he died (it wasn’t he was 40) and I didn’t think they had died at the same age. So I decided that 45 was a round number that a lot of people would guess. ---

So if people were going to cheat, they wouldn’t have picked 42 - they would have picked 45 because that was a better scoring answer. It wasn’t until several people picked 42 that it moved into first place. ---

I think that’s just coincidence. I play an honor system, too, and was just able to be successful with an educated guess. I think most, if not all, of the people here play honestly. What’s the point of playing if you don’t? ---

The only way to prevent cheating in Feuds would be for people to PM me their answers, and that’s just a big pain in the ass. Let’s drop it, shall we? What number are we up to? ETA: 30. ---

I probably know less about The King than anyone here (as my answer to #1 demonstrates), but Elvis’s age at his death is the factoid that gets repeated all the time. I couldn’t tell you how old Marilyn Monroe was when she died, or anyone else of significance. ---
