# Embedding a swf in PPT... I have questions

I’m trying to embed a swf that stops at the last frame, apparently (stop(); ). It plays a video, front to back, and then shows a splash with links (none of them working in PPT). Nothing on the splash takes you back to the front of the swf. Is there a way, in ppt, to jump the swf back to the beginning? Or a parameter I can set so it doesn’t get stuck? Please note that there is nothing I can do to modify the swf on a short term.

I do know Flash, but I have no way of getting to the .fla and associated files (if applicable). And no, there’s nothing illegal about this… it’s just that I want to get it done in a couple of days and getting the .fla changed would probably require several weeks,

Observations:

- Works perfectly (plays the video and reaches the end) on the first attempt
- If you allow the swf to play to the end in the ppt, it gets stuck at the end. Going back to that slide, it’s still stuck on that last frame.
- If you close the presentation, but don’t close PowerPoint, and re-open the presentation, it gets stuck on what I believe to the the first frame (a qix-like movie-clip that indicates the swf is loading) but never progresses from there
- Also, if you close the presentation, but not PowerPoint, the **playing** parameter sets itself to _false_.
- If you close PowerPoint and re-open, you can play the swf again beginning to end. But then you’re stuck with a locked swf again.

I realize PowerPoint is not ideal for swf playback, but I think I’m kinda stuck with it. I have tried setting the **looping** parameter to both _true_ and _false_, with the same results. I’m trying to do this for a really good guy, who also happens to be my boss’s boss, so I’m really hoping this does have a simple fix, or failing that, I can report back that this problem really doesn’t have a solution.
