# Enchanted!

No, I haven’t seen it yet, but it opens this Friday and I can’t wait, mainly because I adore Amy Adams. It looks silly, but what’s wrong with that, if everything works well? The reviews are coming in and everyone loves it, and says that this is a star-making turn by Amy. It’s [100% at Rotten Tomatoes](http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/enchanted/), which of course will change as more reviews start coming in, but I’ll bet the number will stay pretty high. Critics are loving it, test audiences are loving it…I’m so pleased and happy for Amy! Everyone is saying that it will appeal to all ages.

Disney is hoping that this will revive interest in traditional 2D animation films.
Of course, most people know there was never any lost interest in 2D, it was just blinkered vision that made Disney think that in the first place. Anyway, with the new regime at Disney, and the hopeful success of _Enchanted_, 2D animated movies will likely return to prominence.

Wow! I wanted to see this just 'cause I’m a sucker for a Disney musical, but now you’ve got me really excited! I had no idea it was being taken this seriously or lauded so wholeheartedly. I can’t wait to see it now!
(Almost three is still too young for the theater, right? Darn.)

This looks like a funny take on the stereotypical Disney film. There’s also a new Goofy cartoon called _How To Set Up Your Home Theater_ I’ve heard is pretty good. Hopefully this does well. (The animated portions of the film itself were not done at Disney, strangely enough.)

My wife and son both want to see this. At least the reviews in this thread give me some hope – the commercials left me figuring it was another dreadful fractured fairy tale along the same vein as the Shrek franchise\* and Happily N’Ever After.
\*I’m not much of a fan of the “Ooohh! Another anachronistic pop culture reference!” school of humor.

Nothing wrong with it now and then, but it gets old _real_ fast. The first Shrek was better for that (second was a little funnier but not as well done overall, I say) because it didn’t limit itself just to the anacronist pop references. And they had Disney jokes which would have been good 20 years ago as well as ultra-modern ones. And jokes which would have been funny 200 years ago.

The movie may be good, but let’s not be inordinately hopeful. Rottentomatoes _always_ has 100% or nearly 100% for movies before their release. I don’t know what the reason is for this, but I have noticed it to be the case.

Another chime-in for “embarrassed to be looking forward to this one, but really looking forward to this one.”
I don’t have kids. I’m not a kid. But I think Disney is capable of doing a completely accurate and not quite as meanspirited send-up of bowdlerized fairytales in general and their own attempts in particular. It looks adorable and entertaining and it might just be sickly sweet, but hey!

Same here, but I noticed her before that, and fell a bit in love with her, when she played the adorable Candy Striper (with braces) that Leonardo DiCaprio’s character falls for in **Catch Me If You Can**.

Some quick IMDBing indicates that she was also the hot girl who sells purses in three episodes of **The Office** (US version), and Tara’s cousin in the episode of **Buffy** with Tara’s family.

Ah, ok, cool. I’ve never seen The Office or Buffy, so I just know her from CMIYC and Junebug. But nice that Office/Buffy watchers are going to go “oh yeah, HER!” Still, most of the country is going to be sideswiped by this “unknown” soon-to-be-superstar. I’m so so thrilled for her, and the hoopla hasn’t even started yet! I predict that by the end of the year, everyone (well, just about everyone) will know who Amy Adams is.

Not for a Disney movie matinée if you think the little one can sit through it, it is 107 minutes, can the kid sit mostly still that long? Just don’t subject an evening audience to your little one. Disney matinées are not known for being quiet.
