But does this really make that much of a difference? I mean, doesn’t matter if it is daytime or not, my company has lights on inside, as does every other company I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. Many homes do, too. There simply aren’t enough windows to let enough daylight in to warrant eliminating lights.
And streetlights are set to the sun anyway, so changing the clocks isn’t going to do a thing there.
But maybe it does save energy… it just doesn’t seem like it would.
I’ve always thought we should have some kind of time system where we pick two arbitrary points, say midday and midnight, and divide the intervals between them into twelve equal parts.
If people want to get up an hour earlier, they should be allowed to change their alarm.
I honestly do not understand why people think that moving the arbitrary point makes any difference whatsoever. Makes about as much sense as changing the number of inches in a foot so tall people don’t bang their heads so much, or maybe deciding that there should be 1258 yds in a mile to improve fuel consumption.
You could always get up an hour earlier. If you have a 9 to 5 job that gives you an hour before work. Many people like myself prefer to have that hour after work with daylight.
