Could definitely come from Dutch too, as Dutch and German are very similar with a lot of overlap in vocabulary.
I think “caca” is common to a lot of languages, French certainly, and I would assume the other Latinate languages.
The word’s been around a while…
And I’ve seen it as “paid a dime and …”. (In the USA)
