I could rant on infomercials, but I’ll take that to the pit one day. Here’s a vote for supporting most late night real programming on television. The late night Saturday movie. The horror flicks. The news. Late night rock programs. Old Wrestling shows. WW II movies. Black and White Westerns. Anything but, “We are not responsible for the content of this program.” informercials

I know exactly what you mean. Friday and Saturday nights, after 1:00am, is the best time during the week to watch TV. Obscure horror movies, cult sci-fi flicks, underground/indie movies, thought-provoking unconventional documentaries…all in all, my favourite time to watch the tube.

Duckman, Newsradio, Bill Plympton’s shorts - Paramount Comedy Channel.
Sign Zone on BBC1, and BBC3 on BBC1 - A Ogsend on night shift work.
The occasional made-for-TV move can pass the time quite well.

I think those of you who suggest cable are missing the point.
The million dollar movie (It’s been my experience that in any region at least one channel will be broadcasting bad cinema at 2 am weekdays and calling it the million dollar movie) is part of a vanishing age. Wonderfully bad cinema streamed into your home for those nights before a cancelled school day, or when you’d managed to sneak into the living room after your parents were asleep.
It’s about an innocent past giving way to business.
