She did not swear, but the store owner called the police and claimed she HAD cursed. So far, she hasn’t been served/ticketed/arrested on this bogus charge, but I suppose something might still be percolating through the system. Apparently it’s fine to say [“Macaca” and “nigger” in Virginia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Allen_(U.S._politician)#Macaca_controversy), and it’s fine to [aggressively curse a public servant executing his duties](http://politicalhumor.about.com/b/2004/06/25/cheney-to-leahy-go-fk-yourself.htm) if you’re juuuuuuust over the river…speaking of which, in Maryland. right next door, it’s [acceptable for the authorities to strangle to death a suspect in jail and no charges will be filed](http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=92062800); but they will come after you if you say a bad word. So apparently it IS a big deal. ---
