Hobbits for 3 lousy movies. The vampire movies have been made for a century and just seem to be getting bigger and bigger. It’s like global warming. I recall a few angel movies, but that fad didn’t even touch the vampire one. ---

I never liked vampire movies, so their bastardization doesn’t bother me. Now, if they write a book about angsty, mint-smelling zombies who just want to be loved by girls 1/100th their own age, I’d probably go postal. Although with movies like Resident Evil, zombies have already been bastardized enough… ---

Maybe its just me - after all, we got rid of cable…but I don’t need to be exposed to the current vampire mania except in passing unless I choose to - i.e. t-shirts and browsing at the bookstore. I have Netflix instant play, which lets me skip right over vampire movies, a DVD collection that has only a few vampire movies, a large home library - which does contain Twilight - the worst book I couldn’t put down of the past several years - but which also contains a large selection of books that don’t have vampires in them. The internet is at my fingertips, and I can choose or not choose to look at vampire related material - but its the internet, I can spend hours looking at cats - no need to restrict myself to vampires. I’m amused that when I go pick up a Georgette Heyer novel in the Romance section of the bookstore at the number of vampire romances that have been published. But there still seems to be plenty of room for non-supernatural chick lit and historical romances. Similarly, the SF/Fantasy section is awash in it, but its avoidable. But perhaps cable TV has turned into “all vampires all the time, except sports and the Hitler channel - which now has six documentaries on whether Hitler was a vampire that play continually” Which would be annoying. We dropped it because around our house it had turned into “all stupid Disney channel shows all the time” - which had nothing to do with vampires, but was just as annoying. ---

How about a vampire Churchill, a vampire Victoria, (IIRC) a vampire Mata Hari, and a mutant vampire von Richtofen? No movie, but if you’re interested you might want to check out the novel _Anno Dracula_. ---
