This is a little old but I just heard it again today and it was the straw that broke the camel’s back. This November the Democrats got beat, trounced, licked, stomped, pounded, routed, hammered, drubbed, humbled, conquered, crushed, subdued, thwarted, whipped, surmounted, vanquished, creamed, smeared, pummeled, and wiped off the map. They did not get made into an end table nor did they have varnish applied to them. Media please expand your vocabulary. ---

I know its being used correctly, I just am getting sick of hearing it over and over again. It was cute the first time, but every time I hear it I imagine a very brown and sticky Nancy Pelosi, which puts me off my feed. ---

I’m getting bored of hearing it as well. There is definitely a strong inverse correlation between a pundit’s propensity to use it in the context of the mid-terms, and an otherwise complete lack of rhetorical flair. I think that’s why they like it so much. ---

If we are discussing shellacking, then this thread is finished. Reminds me of the guy who committed suicide by drinking varnish. It was a terrible way to die but he had a good finish. ---

Then we can wood-putty the ear-hole closed, and use some polyurethane based stain to hide the evidence. (BTW, do you prefer “Natural Oak”, or “Warm Maple”? I have a half empty can of each. Victim’s Choice.) Just don’t get one of those “after death woodies” we’ll have to pretend isn’t happening, as we try to figure out how to further desecrate, then hide, your body.
