# Enough With The Stupid Vampire Shit

Anyone who likes their vampires as undead monsters with strange supernatural powers should read David Wellington’s vampire books. His vampires are straight up predators, and a bite from them is more likely to leave you decapitated than with a sore neck.

And for those who like Let the Right One In, you should really read the book it’s based on : Let Me In. It sets up the idea that the person who is turned and the actual vampire are not necessarily the same thing. So while the _vampire_ is a scary predatory monster, the person infected by it can still be somewhat sympathetic. It also helps that none of the vampires in the book were made that way by choice.

I’m reading Let the Right One In now. It’s really good, very enjoyable. And it feels like a real book. Not a “Let’s capitalize on how cool being undead is with a hot Mary Sue character whom vampires love!” type.
