YOU’RE Berman?!

Well, what in the hell are you doing? I hope you’re proud of yourself, young man!

That’s it! Go bring me a switch! You’re gettin’ a switchin’!

(I got your tape today, **viva**. I’ll have actual commentary on the episode later, assuming it’s worth the energy to type out.)

By the way, did you ever email **Kn\*ckers** your addy? If so, did you ever get confirmation that she got it?

She needs to hurry up and get a new job with an internet connection or just break down and buy one for her home… it’s just not the same without her.

Pardon moi Mr. **plant** , but I did say that you would give Mal a starship, not Serenity ;). But even with Serenity and no weapons, he could still give them a run for their money.
And Canada does have some guns, torpedos on the other hand are on every street corner. I got my first torpedo when I was 7. Single handedly won us the 95’ referendum it did.
I’m suprised **Kn\*cker** ’s hasn’t shown up to check in yet. It not healthy for someone to go cold turkey that long without the dope.

I actually liked this aspect before. I thought it went with the whole idea of “dangerous new territory.” In _TNG_, Picard & Co were Masters of their Domain (nudge nudge), so it was appropriate for the ship to seem large and imposing and majestic and stuff; there were few threats they couldn’t go toe-to-toe with. Archer’s crew is literally “where no man has gone before,” this season even more so, halfway lost and frequently outclassed and outgunned; thus it made sense for me for the ship to be dwarfed by the enormity of their surroundings. The opening credits of _Voyager_ had this feel, also, with long shots of the ship against various backgrounds, surrounded by the huge strangeness of an unknown environment. I agree that in _Enterprise_ they’re shooting the effects differently, as you describe, but I don’t know if I agree that it’s the right choice, tonally speaking. We’ll see how it develops.

And **Cliffy** , I agree that it’d be cool if we were seeing the beginning of Archer going off the rails, but I have very little faith in this writing team. I think it’s more likely they’re just trying to give him some _cojones_, and shooting wide of the mark.

Hmmm, aiming for cojones, and missing: That means they’re going up the butt, Bob.

Okay, I’ll stop now.

I’ll have a tape full of stuff for you to mail out by Fri. morning, but I will cue it up right before ENT.

Yes, I did indeed send **Kn\*ckers** my email address the day she said she was taking off, and I can only hope she wrote it down or got access to it via some other comp.

What’re you sending me, **viva**? Thanks for including extras and stuff. You don’t need to but I appreciate it.

really enjoyed this episode sans a few points here and there but I’ve forgotten most of them now since I watched it about four hours ago. I should really watch with a notepad or something so I can jot down anything that I really want to remember.

The two things I distinctly remember disliking (and sorry if these have been mentioned already, I know I’m a week (and episode) late) were the aliens (Onarians or something?) knowing their way around Enterprise so well… even knowing exactly where to go to find the antimatter reserves and weapons lockers. Wouldn’t Reed have both those under _heavy_ guard? I found that highly implausible.

The other thing is when Archer had the hostage in the airlock and was yelling at him and asking if he had changed his mind and the alien _nodded_ weakly. This is an entirely different species and he’s going to nod to show his agreement? I don’t buy it.

What should have happened is that the alien should have made some sort of gesture when Archer was asking him if he was ready to comply. Then Archer could have opened the airlock, grabbed him by his collar, and gotten in his face, asking him if that meant yes. Much more believable and a good way to get his anger across too.

Aside from those two nitpicks, I really liked the show though. I especially found the continuity between the shows to be refreshing. Too often, shows don’t acknowledge previous ones unless they’re a direct sequel but this one mentioned things that could only be understood fully if you had seen the previous one.

Ehhh.
(Can’t spell Mrs. Plant’s Yiddish “So what?”)
Poetic license. We wouldn’t have know he was saying yes. If they spent time showing that the aliens indicated agreement by rolling their eyes. there would be complaints of taking up screen time with trivia and grandstanding.

Glad you enjoyed some of it.

Possibly. But if that’s easy for someone to find the damn things, they need to under half a dozen different locks. Voiceprint, retina scan, blood and urine sample, and mother’s maiden name.

Hell, they should be that heavily guarded regardless.

Which is why I explained what they should have done. It would have taken maybe ten more seconds to do what I suggested as compared to the original and it would have added plausability _and_ a chance to further drive home Archer’s frustration.

Nah, the dinos are tooling around in the Delta Quadrent, according to an episode of Voyager that never happened.

Especially considering the fact that they didn’t hack into Enterprise’s computer system until they had already attacked.

Actually this is one of those television sci-fi conventions that has irritated me for a long time - almost instant familiarity with ships and systems that are completely alien. Just once, I want to see someone ask a pilot if he can fly a ship that is not only a ship he has never seen before, but from a species that he has never seen before and have the pilot answer “Sure, If you want to give me about a year to get some basics in the language and at least a friggin’ primer on what the controls do!”

I have been unfairly maligned. I haven’t picked on you for at least a couple of weeks. You’re starting to miss it aren’t you?

I finally got to see the episode. 2 for 2 on decent episodes this season. I don’t know how long it will last considering some of the previews.

I would like to make a comment about angry Archer. There is one thing that I do like about him this season. He may be going a bit off the deep end (and I agree with those who say that it may be kinda cool if he goes a bit further), but at least he isn’t the namby-pamby wimp who was afraid to make a decision. If he becomes a psycho, at least he’ll be a psycho that leaves no doubt that _he is in charge_. 'Bout time.

**NCB** , tell the truth. Mr. Gorsky was actually the special effects designer, wasn’t he? The origin of another Urban Legand has been solved!

Hey, **Viva** , how would you verb me?

Archer did that in one episode; the guy had to tell him where stuff was; Scotty in _The Voyage Home_ “Where’s the damned anti matter inducer?”
