But I think women are actually extra-dimensional. Calling us guys three-dimensional is somtimes pushing it, however women are decidedly 10 (or 11) dimensional as predicted in M-Theory. Ah, but what of the theory that the apparently 3-dimensional universe is only a hologram-like projection of a 2-dimensional reality? Women might only be 5 or 6 dimensional, in that case. ---

No, **tracer** , it has to be 10 or 11 dimensions. Unless you include S (or T )-duality. Now, in T-duality, you could have dimensions interacting with a world volume membrane. For instance, if four of the 10 dimensions (from the 10 dimensional model) curl up and the five-brane (from the soliton model proposed by Andrew Strominger of ITP, Santa Barbara, CA) wraps around these, the latter ends up as a one-dimensional object. A solitonic string in six-dimensional spacetime. In addition, a fundamental string in 10 dimensions remains fundamental even in six dimensions. So the concept of of duality between strings and five-branes leads to another duality- that is, between a solitonic and a fundamental string. 😃 ---

What’s funny, is that my soliton post probably took more research than even my most involved religious debate post, or home remodel question answer post, or fiction writing add to this story post. I had a general idea of what I wanted to say (as a continuation of a joke), but I wanted the actual science to be real, not just scientific sounding. So, I looked in my pile of _Scientific American_ magazines, checked the tables of a few books that I barely understand (but own and read anyways), and even looked at an old fttp link that a physics major gave me. Turns out, I did okay. I asked a Physics Doper to look at it afterwards, and they said I had the fundamentals nicely lain out. Of course, they might just be being nice to me… I’ll never know.
