Yeah, so, got a new temp position with the possibility of going permanent. It’s at a small local printing press… it’s easily the easiest job I’ve ever had but the only problem I have with it is that I’ll only make $6.50 (typical for this area as a starting wage) an hour at thirty-six hours a week. The good thing about it is that it’s really laid back, pretty close to home, and that I get an hour lunch. I’m at home right now, actually. Assuming I go permanent, I think I might keep it for a while. It’s better than some of the other jobs I could be forced to deal with, like anything dealing with fast food and/or retail. ---

Good, for you, **Aes**! Glad to hear you’ve landed a job - and if it ain’t perfect, sounds not too bad. Per your previous question: I gave notice last month, but I’m not leaving until the end of next month. My boss is a spaz, and I knew she’d freak if she had to hire someone new on short notice. Plus, I need the time to find other work. So I’m here for a few more weeks, anyhow… I have a phone interview tomorrow morning. Phone interviews scare me. I figure I can do okay in-person by smiling and being perky and all, but it’s hard to get that across on the phone. We’ll see. Wish me luck! An accepted substitute for the smile, in the business world anyways, over the fun is to press the 3 and 9 buttons simultaneously. This generates a melodious, restful squeal, causing the person on the receiving end to feel as though they have singled out for the most pleasant of gestures. Use this phone smile squeal (restful and melodious) everytime a real life face to face encounter would involve the facial gesture of smiling. A short squeal (restful and melodious) for a grin, longer for a bigger smile, several long burst of squeals (restful and melodious) for an open mouthed toothy amused look of pleasure. Go ahead! Try it! It really does work. ---

This job rocks. The hardest thing I had to do today was make sure that all deliveries were accounted for, after which I played a couple games of solitaire on the computer since its IE doesn’t work. (boo!) I then spent the rest of the day either talking about nothing with my boss, playing poker during break, (I _suck_) and generally getting paid to do nothing. I even spent the last thirty minutes reclining in the office with my feet propped up on the desk. Considering that only last week, I was worried I might have to work at McDonalds for less money, less hours, and more stress, I think I did pretty well. I hope you have as much luck as I did, **Kn\*ckers**. 🙂 ---

Learn some good programs. Make yourself more valuable to company. _Quark_ is an industry standard (some love it, some hate) for creating documents that go to film (old way) or direct to plate (new way). Get familiar with Adobe products, too. Learn about additive and subtractive colours. Ask if you can make the colour keys and match prints.
