Honestly, you had to be there. People who weren’t teenagers between 1994-1998 had no idea how huge Adam Sandler was. For some reason, we considered him ours and Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore and The Waterboy were considered classics.
Looking back on it, I don’t even understand it myself anymore.
I was 18 in 1994, so I was there. I never did understand why he was/is so damned popular. The Hannuka Song was kinda cool; I can see why that would make him popular in the Jewish community, but not why anyone else would like him so much. The Thanksgiving Song was painfully bad, and everything else he did was pretty forgettable.
I think Shakira’s parents signed a contract on her behalf. She’s freaking gorgeous, has a great voice, great moves, speaks three languages fluently and is big on early childhood education. It’s like she was CRAMMED with all the good stuff you can imagine at some point. She’s way too much of everything for it to be real.
